RCMB2 CELEBRATES 2020 WOMEN’S MONTH

Tuguegarao City. The National Conciliation and Mediation Board – Regional Conciliation and Mediation Branch No. 2 (NCMB-RCMB2) celebrated the Women’s Month lining several activities centered on women’s empowerment with the theme “We Make Change Work for women,” highlighting the government’s pursuit for a development anchored on true compassion and real change.

The five-year theme set from 2017 to 2022 focused on the empowerment of women as active contributors and claim holders of development seeking to eliminate discrimination by recognizing and promoting the rights of Filipino women.
In the theme, “We” stands for women empowerment, while the acronym of the verse “make change work” stands for Magna Carta for Women. The word change also stands for compassionate and harmonized actions and network for gender equality.
“it is time to recommit ourselves to the advancement of our women employees’ rights and equal opportunities,” said RCMB2 director Gil G. Caragayan. “This March is not only for women but for everyone,” added administrative officer IV Noel B. Caliguiran. “It is a day for the branch to celebrate women and work for their empowerment, he said.
RCMB2 has 3 female employees holding administrative and technical positions. “The celebration of Women’s Month is a good sign of recognizing our efforts and contributions to the success of the whole NCMB,” expressed administrative assistant and accountant designate Marilou A. Asuncion. Meanwhile, administrative officer III Faye Jasper A. Requimin observed that her stay with the Board for already 3 years has been a very happy and fulfilling experience since it provided opportunities for gender equality and women empowerment.
With this year’s celebration, the branch sported purple t-shirts every Monday to show their support and join the call to advance women’s rights to gender equality and empowerment. Other programs included zumba as kick off activity held in the branch’s conference room, male and female role switching and film showing highlighting the giftedness and strength of women, every Friday afternoon.
Through the enactment of Presidential Proclamation 227, series of 1988, March marks the month-long celebration of the National Women’s Month in the Philippines and is part of the worldwide observance of the International Women’s Day.
