June 17, 2020

Tuguegarao City. Among social assistance responses from governments, the Regional Conciliation and Mediation Branch No. 2 (RCMB2) decided to grant grocery items to identified individuals striving to meet physical needs during the COVID-19 crisis.

The initiative was intended as a practical measure to help these individuals that have been struggling due to daily needs like food, income and health.

“Notwithstanding other cash programs expanded or adapted in the country, granting of grocery items have been the most widely used approach as part of the response to COVID-19 pandemic,” said RCMB2 director Gil G. Caragayan.

Two security guards, a building attendant and a Government Internship Program (GIP) employee in the branch were the recipients of the goods. “This caring effort ensures that people like them living through crises don’t slip into deep poverty,” Caragayan pointed out.

“Napakalaking tulong po ito sa aming pamilya (this is a great help for our family),” said GIP employee Gaylord C. Gumiran who is 9th among 11 siblings. “Matutuwa po ang asawa at mga anak ko nito (my husband and my children will be happy with these) added Marvie Q. Andal, the branch’s building attendant and a mother of 6. The two other security guards also expressed their gratitude for the provision extended to them.

Meanwhile, the branch is likewise doing its best to take proactive measures to safeguard and maintain the wellbeing of each employee and other walk-in clients from getting vulnerable to the COVID-19. We need to strictly follow safety protocols as part of the new normal, said Caragayan. He commended the staff for making a difference through their acts of compassion and sacrifice reaching out to help others.
