RCMB2 SETTLES PM CASE VIA ONLINE CONFERENCE

Tuguegarao City—The National Conciliation and Mediation Board – Regional Conciliation and Mediation Branch No. 2 (NCMB-RCMB2) recently settled the labor dispute between Ilagan Coca-Cola Monthly Employees Association (ICCMEA) and Coca-Cola Beverages Phils., Inc. via an online conciliation  conference announced RCMB2 director Gil G. Caragayan

In a report to NCMB executive director Maria Teresita D. Lacsamana-Cancio, Caragayan said that the settlement took place last June 16, during its second conciliation conference.

The union filed the preventive mediation case last February 26 due to bargaining deadlock.

According to Caragayan who facilitated the settlement, 12 CBA negotiation meetings were conducted by the parties but had reached impasse on 5 remaining provisions particularly on full wage retroactivity, LMC official business meetings, retirement benefits, 5-day work week scheme and union fund.

The settlement had an estimated monetary benefit of P2,083,500.00   which is inclusive of salary increase of P1,300.00 for 3 years from May 1, 2019 to April 30, 2022, a lumped sum of P31,000.00 for each union member, Christmas voucher of P500.00, flu vaccine amounting to P1000.00 and health maintenance of P2,300.00 all for 3 years. The amount will benefit the 45 union members.

Among others agreed upon are the official attendance in LMC meetings with full pay to 3 key personnel of the union and union leave with full pay to any 2 union officers. Additional benefits include paternity leave of 14 days, maternity leave of 120 days, and retroactivity of wages from April 30, 2019 to March 15, 2020

All other issues agreed upon by the parties during their earlier series of negotiation meetings were integrated in the new CBA.

All told, director Caragayan exhorted the parties to PONDER about the following nuggets of wisdom:

“Believe when others doubt,

Work when others refuse,

Save when others waste

Stay when others quit, and

YOU will win when others lose.”

Executive director Cancio commended director Caragayan and his team for the early and amicable settlement of the labor row.
